Pellicle was founded with a pure aim: to represent and evoke the joy of good food and drink. Since 2019, we’ve published stories about beer, wine, cider, spirits, coffee, and food that show just how vital what we put in our bellies is, and how it connects us. If we’ve learned anything in the past seven years, it’s that these seemingly straightforward topics contain multitudes, and touch almost every aspect of our lives.
Now, in 2026, we’re entering the next phase of Pellicle’s growth. The publication has evolved and expanded significantly since its founding. So has our team: Last year, we welcomed Claire Bullen to the Pellicle editorial staff, bringing us to a total of four eager and starry-eyed food and drink writers, editors, and industry professionals. Together, we work behind the scenes to get Pellicle published every week.
As Pellicle has grown, so have our collective ambitions. This year, we want to produce a print magazine for the first time. We want to find and connect with wider audiences. We want to continue publishing work by talented writers, illustrators, and photographers, and mentor the most promising newcomers. And we want to have the capacity to delve into the deepest, richest topics.

It’s one thing to run a magazine based on the things we like most, but to grow and bloom into something bigger, we need our readers’ insights and support. That’s why we’ve created this survey: We want to hear what you want from Pellicle in 2026, and use your input to plan our next moves.
For the next two weeks, we’re opening up the floor to learn what Pellicle means to you, and where you’d like to see it go next. The 2026 Pellicle Reader Survey is just a seven-to-10-minute task, and you can easily complete it on your phone. Plus, you can opt in to win one of three prizes*:
